Coffee Churro Bites
Churros with a Coffee Kick!
Churros are a beloved treat, and while they are thought to have originated in Spain and Portugal, those origins are obscure and disputed– ¡escandaloso! What is clear is that the fried doughy delights were popularized in Latin America and have since become a global sensation. Here is our take on Churros with a coffee kick! Make a large batch, these sweets will be long gone before you know it.
INGREDIENTS:
Churro
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp of our Espresso Blend
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
Topping
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp of our Espresso Blend
Instructions
Prepare the Dough
- Mix and boil water, espresso, sugar, salt, and butter in a saucepan.
- Remove from heat once boiling and stir in flour until it’s smooth.
- Let the dough cool, then mix in eggs one at a time, and add the vanilla extract.
- Once cool and mixed, transfer the dough to a piping bag and prepare the oil for frying.
Fry
- Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe dough into hot oil in 4-inch lengths. Use scissors to cut the dough if necessary.
- Fry until golden, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Top
- Mix sugar, cinnamon, and espresso together in a bowl.
- Roll your hot churros in the dressing, coating them fully.
- Let your churros cool, or eat them immediately!
