The Bold Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso Recipe

The Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso is a café staple that went viral this year, for good reason- it mixes the bold strength of espresso with the warm sweetness of brown sugar, creating a sweet and slightly savory take on espresso that is sure to please. Try our recipe below, complete with a Sello Rojo-certified bold twist, and enjoy bringing the coffee shop home to your kitchen!
Ingredients:
- 2 shots of our Espresso or 1/2 cup of our Intenso Blend if espresso isn’t available.
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup any milk of your choice
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
- Brew 2 shots of espresso or 1/2 cup of strong coffee.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of brown sugar while the espresso is hot, and mix in 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon until fully dissolved.
- Shake it up!
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
- Pour your spiced espresso and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract over the ice.
- Shake for about 15-20 seconds until well mixed, cold and frothy.
- Time to enjoy! Fill a glass with ice cubes, pour the shaken espresso over the ice and top it off with 1/2 cup of your chosen milk.
Optional Bold Twist: A Cinnamon Sugar Rim
Mix 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Wet the rim of your glass with a little water, then dip it into the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.
