Bolis de Café
RECIPE
Mexican ice cream and bold brews are a delicious treat!
Bolis are Mexican ice cream staples; sweet, decadent ice cream pops made from cream, sugar cane and milk. This recipe is simple to make and ready for these hot August days. Read below to get started!
Ingredients
- 1 cup of Fuerte coffee (cooled)
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
While ultimately any blend can be cold brewed, after being finely ground, the roast and flavor profiles can smoothen or sharpen depending on how long you brew your coffee. Experts recommend starting with lighter roasts during your first attempts. We suggest our Tradicional Blend, a bold and flavorful medium roast to get going.
Instructions
Brew Coffee:
Brew 1 cup of the Fuerte Blend, full-bodied, chocolatey and strong. Then let it cool to room temperature.
Mix Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled coffee, whole milk, heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Fill Bags:
Pour the mixture into plastic bags, sandwich bags or bolis pop bags if you have them. Try using a funnel to avoid spills. Leave a little space at the top for the ice cream to expand during the freezing process.
Seal Bags:
Seal the bags tightly, ensuring there are no leaks.
Freeze:
Lay the filled bolis bags flat in the freezer. Freeze for at least 4-6 hours, or until completely solid.
Serve:
Once frozen, take out a coffee-flavored bolis, snip off the top, and enjoy your homemade ice cream pop!
