Colombian Cholado
A Colombian classic! Tropical fruits, shaved ice, sooooo nice!
Colombia’s cholado is the perfect dessert for your boldest summer!
From Cali in Colombia’s Cauca Valley, cholados are a mix of fresh fruits, shaved ice, and condensed milk; it is easy to make and even easier to eat. Get started and slurp up all the juicy, drippy goodness! You don’t want to skip this essential summertime recipe.
Los Ingredientes:
Feel free to adjust the amount of fruit based on what’s available.
- 2 cups crushed ice
- 1 cup pineapple chunks
- 1 cup mango chunks
- 1/2 cup papaya, diced
- 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup banana, sliced
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup of any fruit-based syrup
Optional Toppings:
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
- Maraschino cherries, wafer cookies or a drop of condensed milk
Las Instrucciones:
- Crush the ice using a blender or ice crusher. Make it your base and add it to the bottom of a tall glass or bowl.
- Place your fruit over the ice. Make it as colorful as possible and mix the pineapple, mango, papaya, banana and strawberries together.
- Drizzle the fruit syrup on top and the sweetened condensed milk—be generous and let it sink to the bottom.
- Top your cholado with a wafer, shredded coconut or a cherry or two.
- Scoop or sip; savor your cholado and enjoy!
